The Abdullatif Al Fozan Award For Mosque Architecture

The Abdullatif Al Fozan Award accordingly has been conceived to become a platform that raises awareness on the contemporary architecture of the mosque. It also aims at raising awareness on best practices for the design, construction, and upkeep of mosques. Moreover, the Award will establish a variety of activities that acknowledge, promote, and celebrate distinguished examples of mosque architecture.

The Award is intended to honor Shaykh Abdullatif Al Fozan. The official patron of the Award is HRH Prince Muhammed bin Fahd bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. The Award is overseen by an Executive Committee. The Executive Committee's responsibilities include appointing an independent jury for each Award cycle that selects the winning mosques.

The Award will be given every three years. Its initial 2013 cycle will address mosques built in Saudi Arabia since 1970. This first cycle therefore will shed light on the evolution of Saudi Arabia's mosque culture and architecture over the past four decades.

I was honoured to create the motion graphics intro for the awards with a design concept and visual style inspired from the visually sophisticated islamic art patterns , calligraphy elements , and the islamic architectural details.
